Do you ever experience that your electric golf cart is hard to climb on the road? Or you carry one who are heavy so that it is overload. If so, maybe you need to push the cart uphill slope, but this is nothing with the batteries. But if you drive the golf cart alone and this happens to you, at this moment you have to consider that the golf cart batteries might be replaced. Some people even don't know when to replace their battery even thought it is time to its design service lifespan. So how should we judge it is time to replace our battery? In fact, we can measure the battery density and voltage to estimate whether it is required to replace a new one.
Battery Density Measuring Method:
Before you start measuring it, first assemble the densimeter of basic hand tools. First of all, open the cover of seats and batteries, and use the densimeter to drain the electrolyte. Put the densimeter in the upright position so as to read the number. When the electrolyte on the densimeter totally stops up, you can just read the value. If the battery is full charged, the scale value of the densimeter is 1.28g/cubic centimeter; if it fully discharges, the scale value is 1.14g/cubic centimeter. Successively measure other batteires' density, and after completing the measure, you need to use the clean water to wash the densimeter.
Measuring Method of Total Battery Voltage:
Use the multimeter direct voltage file. 200 to test the voltage of the batteries of electric golf cart. Attach the red cable to the positive, and the black cable to the negative. The normal value of 48V golf cart should be about 50V, while the 72V cart is about 76V.
Each Voltage Measuring Method:
Use the multimeter direct voltage file. 20 to test the voltage of the batteries of electric golf cart. Attach the red cable to the positive, and the black cable to the negative. The charging voltage of each golf cart battery is 6-6.4V.
You can use the above methods to measure the battery density and voltage so as to judge whether it is time to replace the battery. This can help you avoid the trouble that you suddenly stop on the road without power. Of course, it is just my idea, and maybe you will have better ways to solve this problem.
